Should you... ADOPT? OR BUY?

Pet adoption campaigns make sense.

"Don't Breed or Buy While Shelter Dogs Die" is probably one of the most hard-hitting slogans out there.

Indeed, the majority of the dogs aren't privileged to have a home.

But as much as we'd love to give every dog a loving family, is adoption right for you? Or should you buy instead?

Let's take a look at the pros and cons of both.

You are saving a life. That's it. Enough said. How many people can say the same? Not much, I tell you.

There's a rich sense of fulfillment when adopting a rescue dog. You're not only saving a life, but you're giving that pup a home.

They can be challenging to raise. A dog in a shelter mostly endured harsh conditions. It can be tough to weigh in on how their behavior will be. Also, since dogs in shelters live with each other, they might feel lonely when separated. health issues can also be a concern

You get to choose a specific breed. Although it can be costly, I tell you ever since I was a kid; I always wanted a Samoyed. The moment that I get actually to own one was exhilarating!

No mysteries. You know what you're getting when you're buying a dog, given that you'll be purchasing from a reputable breeder.

Whether you'll be adopting or buying is pretty much up to you. Here's my recommendation: adopt it if you plan to commit your life, meaning every day towards your beloved dog's welfare. If you have a lot going on with life and want a companion, then buy instead.

I'm a huge advocate of adopting, but it's something that you have to commit. You don't want that fur baby to reexperience the trauma of being left in the street, alone in the cold.

But it's painful to see a newly adopted dog being abandoned again by an overwhelmed owner.
